Description
During this workshop students will be introduced to usability. Topics in the first part of the workshop will include the theoretical backgrounds of usability research, usability measurement and the factors that influence perceived usability. This will be put in the perspective of organizational impact of usability implementation as a continual process and how web analytics and usability research are combined. Finally, methods and tools to measure web site usability will be discussed.
In the second part of the workshop, the students will be introduced to the most important psychological constructs to the field. Within this setting the perception cognition action cycle is considered the basis of human web site interaction. Conclusively, based on the psychological constructs discussed, typical usability problems will be identified by means of practical assignments and finally be translated to design guidelines.
